Home › Decorative lighting for Southeast Asian importers
Singapore regulates household electrical products through the Consumer Protection (Safety Requirements) Regulations, administered by the Consumer Product Safety Office. Thirty-three categories of controlled goods are listed, and only some decorative lighting falls inside them. Getting this distinction right decides whether a model needs registration before it can be supplied.
| Table lamp / standing lamp | Controlled — Low Risk. Portable general-purpose luminaire for household use up to 250 V AC, tested to IEC 60598-2-4:2017. |
|---|---|
| Decorative lighting chain | Controlled — Medium Risk. Rope lights to IEC 60598-2-21:2014; other decorative chains to IEC 60598-2-20:2022. |
| Lamp control gears | Controlled — Medium Risk. Includes LED drivers to IEC 61347-2-13:2014. |
| Fixed luminaires (chandeliers, pendant, ceiling, wall) | Not listed among the 33 controlled-goods categories. Installation still has to meet local electrical requirements, and the requirement is confirmed per market. |
Registration is held by a Registered Supplier, and registered goods carry the SAFETY Mark. Low-risk categories register through a Supplier's Declaration of Conformity; medium- and high-risk categories need a Certificate of Conformity from a designated Conformity Assessment Body. The responsible party and the document set are confirmed per model and order, because they depend on which category the model falls into.

Humidity and salt air are the two specification drivers that separate a Southeast Asian order from a European one on the same model. They are decided at sample stage, because changing them after tooling is expensive.
These are engineering choices, not marketing claims: the actual IP rating, finish system and driver specification are stated on the quotation for the model concerned.
Orders in this region tend to be broader and shallower than European ones — more models, fewer pieces per model, and more frequent replenishment. That changes what belongs in a quotation.
| Incoterms | FOB, EXW, DDP or DAP — named port or destination confirmed on the quotation. |
|---|---|
| Payment | 30% deposit with order, 70% balance before shipment. |
| Lead time, standard models | 7–25 days depending on quantity. |
| Lead time, custom models | 15–30 days depending on quantity and requirements. |
| Warranty | Two years, covering the complete fitting and the light source. Faults are resolved by repair or replacement parts. |
| Certification | CE, UL, ETL and RoHS across the range; Singapore CPSR requirements confirmed per model as described above. |
OEM and ODM supply, including private label, is covered on Wholesale, OEM and ODM.
Fixed luminaires such as chandeliers, pendant lights, ceiling lights and wall lights are not among the 33 controlled-goods categories, so they are not registered under the CPSR scheme. Portable table and standing lamps, decorative lighting chains and lamp control gears are controlled, and those models are quoted with the applicable registration route.
Yes. These markets are served on FOB, DDP or DAP terms, with the destination and duty treatment named on the quotation. Local registration requirements are confirmed per market before the first order rather than assumed to follow the Singapore position.
It depends on the installation position and the model. The IP rating is confirmed per model and order, together with the finish system, rather than published as a single figure across a category.
Container quantity is calculated across the models in the order, not per single SKU. The 20GP and 40HQ quantities for a specific mix are confirmed per model and order.
Two years, covering the complete fitting and the light source. Faults are resolved by repair or by shipping replacement parts, and the spare-parts ratio is agreed with the order.
