Lighting Manufacturer FAQ: What Wholesale Buyers Ask Before Ordering (2026)

Short answer

Most wholesale lighting buyers ask the same ten questions before placing a first order: is the supplier a real factory, what is the minimum order quantity, what can be customized, how do samples work, and who is responsible when something arrives wrong. This page answers those ten questions directly, based on how our own OEM and ODM production runs — so you can use it as a checklist whether you work with Huixiang Lighting or any other manufacturer in China.

1. Are you a lighting manufacturer or a trading company?

We are a lighting manufacturer based in Zhongshan, Guangdong, China, specializing in modern home lighting and decorative lighting fixtures.

Why this matters: a trading company resells other factories' output. That is not automatically bad — but it changes who controls tooling, materials, QC and lead times. If you need customization or consistent repeat production, you want the party that owns the production process.

How to verify it yourself: ask for the factory address, then check it against satellite imagery; ask for a live video walkthrough of the production floor during your sample stage; ask which components are made in-house and which are bought in. A manufacturer can answer all three specifically. See how a factory, a trading company and a marketplace differ →

2. Do you provide OEM and ODM services?

Yes. We provide OEM and ODM support for customized lighting products, including design, dimensions, materials, finishes, lighting specifications and packaging.

3. What types of lighting products do you manufacture?

Our product range includes chandeliers, pendant lights, ceiling lights, wall lights, table lamps, LED lighting and other decorative home lighting fixtures.

Category pages with current models: chandeliers · pendant lights · ceiling lights · wall lights · table lamps.

4. What is the minimum order quantity (MOQ)?

For our ring chandelier models the published MOQ is 20 pcs per model. MOQ varies by product, material and how far the customization goes — a color change on a standard model is a different question from a new mould or a new glass shape. Confirm the MOQ for the exact model and finish you want before you budget.

Practical tip: if your first order is small, ask whether MOQ can be met across a mixed container of several models rather than per SKU.

5. Can you customize an existing lighting product?

Yes. Depending on the product, we can discuss customization of dimensions, materials, finishes, colors, lighting specifications, configurations and packaging.

Typical customization dimensions:

What buyers usually changeWhat to specify
Size and proportionsDiameter, height, drop length, canopy size
Materials and finishMetal finish, glass type, stone, plaster, acrylic
Light sourceLED specification, color temperature (CCT), wattage, dimming
Smart featuresWiFi / Bluetooth / CCT / voice control
Branding and packagingLogo on product, label, gift box, master carton, manuals

6. Can you develop a completely new lighting product?

We can discuss new product development based on your drawings, references, samples or product concepts.

A new development usually moves through: design → development → sampling → production → quality control → packaging and delivery. Expect to approve a sample before mass production; that approval is also your reference standard if a dispute arises later.

7. Can I get a sample before placing a bulk order?

Yes — sampling is a normal stage of the process, not a favour. Always order a sample for a new model, a new finish or a new supplier, and inspect it against the specification you approved in writing.

Before you share drawings or a proprietary design, ask the supplier to sign a non-disclosure agreement. Send the NDA request before the files, not after.

8. How is quality controlled?

Our quality process runs at four points, and you can ask any supplier to describe the same four:

  1. Material inspection — incoming materials and components checked against requirements.
  2. Production inspection — manufacturing quality monitored throughout production.
  3. Product inspection — finished units checked for appearance, workmanship and functionality.
  4. Packaging inspection — packaging reviewed to protect goods in transit.

What to ask for as evidence: inspection photos at each stage, the checklist used, and — for larger orders — a third-party pre-shipment inspection.

9. Who do you work with, and do you support private label?

We work with lighting importers, wholesalers, distributors, retailers, brands, interior designers, contractors and project companies.

Private label and own-brand collections are supported: logo, packaging and product configuration are set to your brand rather than ours.

10. How can I request a quotation, and what should I send?

Send us your product requirements, reference images, quantities and any available specifications. Our team will review your request and get back to you with the relevant information.

A quotation comes back faster when you include: model or reference image · quantity per model · destination country and port · required finish and CCT · packaging and branding needs · target delivery window.

Regulatory note for EU-bound orders

If your orders ship to the EU, product compliance is a shared responsibility, not the supplier's alone. Commission Regulation (EU) 2019/2020 sets ecodesign requirements for light sources and separate control gears, and it replaced three earlier regulations — so the specification you order against should reflect the current rules rather than an old catalogue sheet. Confirm with your supplier which compliance documents they can provide and which obligations sit with you as the importer.
