Home › Guides › How to Choose Chandelier Size and Drop Height
A chandelier is specified from two numbers: the diameter (or overall width of a linear fixture) and the drop - the distance from the ceiling to the lowest point of the fitting. Both are set by the room, not by the model. Because our chandeliers are made to order, the diameter, the height of the body and the drop (chain, rod or cable length) are all adjusted to your project before production.
Two rules of thumb are used in most residential specifications. They give a starting figure, not a final one.
These proportions are design guidance, not a manufacturing specification. The figure that matters in production is the diameter you confirm for the model you select, since the same design language is often available across a range of sizes.
Drop is supplied as chain, rod or cable. Because it is cut or set during production, the final figure is fixed by the ceiling height you give us, not by a stock length.
Size is part of the standard customization scope on our chandelier range, together with finish, logo, light source, colour temperature and smart lighting options. A size or material change creates a new production batch, so the process runs in this order:
The published minimum order quantity for our chandelier models is 20 pcs. MOQ is confirmed per model and finish, because a material or finish change is a new batch.
If you are choosing within the chandelier range, the chandelier collection groups the ring, linear, globe, sculptural, cluster and crystal designs. For a kitchen island specifically, see CH-05 Kitchen Island Chandelier. For rooms with restricted ceiling height, see our guide to small and low-ceiling spaces.
Add the room's width and length in feet and use the total as the diameter in inches, or take half to two thirds of the length of the table or island the fixture hangs over. High and double-height spaces normally take a larger figure. The diameter finally produced is the one confirmed for the model you choose.
The bottom of the fixture is normally set 30-36 in (about 75-90 cm) above the tabletop. The exact drop is cut to the finished ceiling height you give us.
Yes. Size is inside the standard customization scope for our chandelier range, along with finish, logo, light source and colour temperature. Send the diameter and drop you need and we confirm what can be produced for that model.
Multi-tier and sculptural designs are normally specified in double-height or stairwell spaces, where the fixture and its drop fill the upper half of the void. Send the finished ceiling height and we confirm the drop and number of tiers that suit it.
The published MOQ for our chandelier models is 20 pcs, confirmed per model and finish. Trade price is built from the confirmed dimensions, materials, finish, light source and packaging, so a size change is quoted as a configuration rather than taken from a list price.
